Weekend Recap

Well that weekend went by too fast. I was feeling a little under the weather (as I do every year when the season starts to change) so nothing too crazy happened. Friday night we went up to Level8 to grab a couple of drinks and watch part of our wedding band play during happy hour. On the plane back home from New York (after he had just proposed) the first thing wedding that we discussed was definitely having a live band rather than a DJ. We chose the same band that played at his brother’s wedding last fall, Southern Satisfaction, and after hearing them again Friday night we got so so excited. So we pretty much stayed until they stopped playing. Here’s a little sneak peak:
When we got home that night, I decided it was time to make a birthday cake for my friend Meghann who’s birthday brunch was the next morning. It was delicious in spite of the fact that I was 7 Samuel Adams Oktoberfest deep. (To make my strawberry box cake taste homemade I substituted almond milk for water and melted butter for oil. Call me Paula Bean.)
Meghann just got a new puppy, Lily, and Sarah brought her new puppy, Hank. Bo was pretty angry at us when we got home that afternoon and would not stop sniffing me with this angry Bo-face.
Baby Lily getting cuddles from Aunt Lori & Hank Wiliams below with his favorite Aunt & Uncle
We were going to go to the FSU game that night but because I was feeling sick-y and it was pouring outside, we stayed in and ate chicken wangs and tried not to get angry at ESPN3 for not streaming the game perfectly. But duh, FSU won. (Oh, and Brady & the Bean (my team) won in Fantasy Football this week!)
Sunday was pancakes at the house, laundry and rewatching Hunger Games, and a couple of hours at the office before a trip to Publix and grilled cheese & soup for dinner. We suffered through an hour or so of the Emmy’s before I went to bed. And by go to bed I mean read my book until midnight when M.E. came in and told me I was going to be pissed in the morning that I had done that... But it just got good!! Anybody else read ‘The Historian’by Elizabeth Kostova?

What what? Wednesday

What I’m reading: Just finished Silver Linings playbook, and I really liked it! It’s kind of pathetic but hopeful in an odd way. As soon as I finished the book I googled as many clips from the movie as I could find!

What I’m listening to: The Lumineers Pandora station.

What I’m looking forward to: 2 MORE NIGHTS UNTIL NYC! I am so very excited! I feel like it’s been a long time coming. Also, tonight I’m going out with my bestie to get our nails done – I haven’t done that since prom. I’m going to try that gel/shellac stuff, hoping to avoid chips on my trip.

What I’m dreading: I just don’t have a care in the world today!

What I’m wearing: I’m wearing one of the dresses Boyfriend’s mom has given me. This woman is phenomenal. Not only does she have good taste, everything she picks for me fits me perfectly! It blows my mind everytime.

What I wish I were doing: I wish I were in NY already with my sweetie! But then again, part of the thrill of it is the excitement of the anticipation!

What I’m eating: Last night I had an Oreo McFlurry and it was fantastic.

What what? Wednesday

What I’m reading: As of yesterday I was reading Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks – I’m sure you’ve seen the preview of the movie adaptation that will be in theaters on Valentine’s Day. Anyway, I highly recommend this book. It’s a typical Sparks book – romance, suspense, appreciation of life. I loved it and I can’t wait to see the movie!

What I’m listening to: Lately my Pandora has been set on the Zach Brown Band station.

What I’m looking forward to: NYC in NINE days!!

What I’m dreading: The predicted weather here in Tallahassee, rain & wind, oh boy.

What I’m wearing: My wannabe Tory Burch necklace and new highlights!

What I’m eating: Last night I was ahankerin’ for some biscuits to go with our Hamburger Helper. And this is what I came up with, with what I had on hand:
  • 3 cups of pancake mix
  • 1/3 cup of water
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 egg
Preheat the oven to 425. Mix all the ingredients together. Shape into flat (1/2”) rounds (so they look like the Pillsbury biscuits in the can). Bake 8-10 min. Voila!

One last thing, shout out to my friend Matty! Matt, whenever you're ready to guest post - holler!!

Dear T-Swift, JK Rowling, & Twihards,

IN ENTERTAINMENT NEWS:

Last week I bought T-Swifts new album Red. Love it. Every day is Taylor Swift Day in my world. I love that she sings about her feelings – I mean really & truly, if you knew how to write melodies wouldn’t you use what you’re feeling as lyrics? Yes, you would. I would. Ans my favorite song on this album is 22. Because that is exactly how I was at 22.

For the past couple of weeks I have been reading J.K. Rowling’s new book Casual Vacancy. When I heard her first book for adults was finally released I was like:

But after a couple of chapters I was like:

Yeah it was hard to get into! SO many characters – SO British I couldn't really connect. But I’m about halfway through now and I’m getting it. Finally starting to see how everybody is connected to one another… I hear the ending makes it all worth it so I’m going to muster through!

Next up on my reading list are the books in the Divergent Trilogy. I heard its almost as good as the Hunger Games… I will be the judge of that!

And in a couple of weeks, me and Deanie will be at the midnight premier of the last Twilight move at our local movie theater wearing our PJs with secret wine in our purses – as per tradition.

What are you reading/watching/listening to??

Very truly yours, A. Bean
