Weekend Recap with Wings!

Happy Monday you guys!

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! Mine consisted mostly of eating junk food and sporting events and only a couple of productive activities (laundry & taxes). And it was fabulous.

Saturday Boyfriend and I went to the FSU basketball game, and even though the Noles lost, we had great seats and had a fun time just being together. After the game we met up with friends at the dirtiest smelliest bar in town to play darts and drink cheap beer, and again, it was fabulous. Especially picking up pizza on the way home.

Yesterday was a lazy-recover-from-the-night-before and prepare for the Super bowl kind of day! Lots of naps and tv watching. The highlight I would say is my attempt at making buffalo chicken wings, which earned my title of MVP of the Super bowl from Boyfriend. Turns out they were the best wings he’s ever had!

MVP Super Bowl Wangs
Ingredients:
Buffalo sauce:
1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 cup hot pepper sauce (such as Frank's)

Wings:
2.5 pounds chicken wings, tips removed (so gross removing tips! But you have to or they’ll burn)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tablespoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
add ingredients to shopping list

Directions:
For buffalo sauce:
Mix first 4 ingredients in a medium bowl; let stand for 5 minutes. Whisk in hot sauce; keep warm. DO AHEAD: Can be made 1 week ahead. Let cool completely; cover and chill. Rewarm before using.

For wings:
Preheat oven to 400°F. Line rimmed baking sheet and set a wire rack inside. Place all ingredients in a large bowl; toss to coat. Spread out wings in a single layer.

Bake wings until cooked through and skin is crispy, 45-50 minutes, flipping once halfway through.

Toss wings in Buffalo sauce. Serve immediately.

Friday Letters

Dear Friday: Hello, nice to see you again. This short work week was great for our friendship!

Dear FSU Seminoles: Last night was awesome!! Nothing like a buzzerbeater!!

Dear new Target dress: Love you. Love your chevron.

Dear Tallahassee weather: Keep it up! 70 degrees without a cloud in the sky is perfection. Especially when I think about my brother out at BYU in the ice and cold.

Dear laundry: Go do yourself.

Dear nude nail polish: I’m totally digging you, it’s like you’re not there but still fancy. Thanks Ipsy.

Dear pizza: Gonna tear you up tonight. Mmmmhm.

Dear pinched nerve: Ouches. Anyone have a remedy for a pinched nerve right behind your shoulder blade?

Dear boyfriend: I’m glad you’re feeling better. You’re my best friend and I love our date nights, pillow talks, and just being near you. Lovin' you is fun.

Friday Letters

Dear Friday: Welcome. I’ve missed you dearly. Tonight we will celebrate your return with homemade pizza & a bottle of wine.

Dear NYC: We will see you in 28 days!

Dear weather: 81 degrees? Its February! Weather, you’re drunk!

Dear Seminoles: Scalp ‘em! Basketball game tomorrow!

Dear boss: You were very funny yesterday when I picked you up from your dental surgery – and I am jealous that you have an excuse to drink milkshakes all day.

Dear GlamGrab: LOVE my bracelet! You are the only reason Mondays will now be semi bearable!

Dear tanning bed: Its been a long time since I’ve seen you, and as bad as you are for me, you were amazing this week. If I closed my eyes and concentrated hard enough, I truly felt like I was on the beach, knee deep in the water somewhere… and it was glorious.

Dear sinuses: Thank you for finally getting your game together. That was not a pleasant way to start off the new year and I am happy to be feeling like myself again!

Dear Weekend Recap (Daddy visit & Pumpkin Snack),

Happy Monday y'all! Are you having this same fantastic weather where you are? Its chilly willy down here and I love it!!

The weather this past weekend wasn't quite as cold as this morning but it was still great for football and pumpkin carving! Friday night we stayed in, had pizza, watched Jeepers Creepers, and carved out pumpkin. It was excellent.

Boyfriend scooped the guts 'cause that's what boyfriends are for :)

Ta da! Our 'scarrrry' jack o'lantern! We were pretty proud.

Saturday my dad came to town to go to the game with us!

Mr. Bean making an appearance! (note: my cute monogram'd garent & gold shirt)

We won :)

Beans!

And thennn... we came home to a mess... Mr. Bo decided he was hungry...

And he gave our pumpkin a stroke. Bad Dog!!
You would think he would have learned his lesson after Boyfriend bopped him on the nose and gave him a talking to... But nope, the very next morning I caught him knawing on our poor pumpkins lid. Our deformed jack o'lantern lives outside now :(

Oh I also gave myself a glitter ombre manacure this weekend, fancy.
I hope your weekend was as nice as mine! Mondays are usually crap but I'm pretty stoked about the chili in the crockpot and the homemade applesauce waiting at the house for me tonight...

Also a shout-outs to: Little brother, AJ for turing 19 yesterday!! & for seeing out-of-town friends at the football game Saturday!

Very truly yours, A. Bean

Dear Weekend Recap (Boyfriend's High School Reunion),

Happy Monday! Ha. Really, is there such thing as a happy Monday?

I hope everybody had a spectacular weekend. Ours was busy busy but super fun. Since it was boyfriend’s high school reunion we had so many friends to visit with! Friday night we went to Chili’s for dinner before meeting up with his high school buddies (both scorching our mouths on those amazing southwestern eggrolls…)  I just love all of his friends, so it was a crazy fun night out on the town. To say the least, Saturday morning was tough for me (just being so exhausted from the night before!!) but I mustered up my Seminole Pride and joined boyfriend and the gang out for some tailgating fun. The Nole’s whooped up on Boston College! YES!
Seminoles right there!
Winners!
After the game we met up with the high school gang at Andrew’s Downtown and ended the night at Whataburger, duh. We also had our first guests stay at our house that night, shout out to Ross & Steph for sleeping in our not-so-finished guest room!  We ended up back at Andrews Downtown for brunch before completely vegging out and napping the rest of the afternoon.

But if you know me, you know I can’t just lay around without doing something productive (productive – cleaning, crafting, cooking, shopping)… And yet, my body was just so exhausted after that weekend… So I made a list of productiveness for this week while lying in bed. Like this:

·         for lunch today I went to Joann Fabrics because I want to finally pull out my sewing machine (still in its box from… 3 Christmas’s ago?!)

·         Go grocery shopping when my Maybook finally arrives in the mail (taking foreverrrrrr)

·         Make my pumpkin whoppie pies

·         Visit with Lori (SHE’S FINALLY HOME FROM INDONESIA TONIGHT!)

·         Continue reading Casual Vacancy (which truthfully, I am having a hard time getting into… I have faith in you though J.K. Rowling!)

What are your plans for the week after doing nothing productive all weekend?

Very truly yours, A. Bean
