Wedding... Thursday?

So I missed Wedding Wednesday yesterday... mostly because when I started to think about what to post I had a little bit of a panic attack.

It all started with picking shower dates... One in the fall, one in January, and date in the beginning of February. The thing is, we are BIG Seminole fans. Every weekend in the fall is dedicated to tailgating and football, leaving hardly any time to spare for wedding planning! EVERY weekend until November is football filled, then the holiday season hits, then it’ll be January which is only ONE month before February which is THE month! Yeegads!!!

So I did what I always do when I’m feeling panicky. I made a list of things we need to accomplish soon:

Find the perfect wedding shoes (I know what they should look like in my head but I haven’t found them just yet)

Order the veil (can’t wait for ya’ll to see the one I chose!)

Pick out the tuxes (also officially ask the groomsmen!)

Get Mimi’s earrings adjusted (they’re like these old school kinda clipons and pinch my ears)

GET OUR PASSPORTS (this should be priority)

Book honeymoon (I can’t wait to be knee deep in the water somewhere with my husband!)

Reserve the car valet service (I can’t keep procrastinating on this... I just gotta bite the bullet and fork over the money)

Choose/book rehearsal dinner venue (Need to speak with my future MIL)

Confirm our officiant (And get him certified!)

Start gift registry (Maaaaybe I’ve already started this, I just need M.E.’s approval)

Obviously I have way more to do than what’s listed, but these are the things I feel need to be solidified fairly quickly. I can’t believe we have been engaged for 6 months already and we are almost under the 6 month mark to go! Where has time gone?? I'm just ready for ya'll to see my dress and to become M.E.'s wife. Oh, and to eat wedding cake & drink champagne.

Random Wednesday & Wedding Wednesday

Happy humpday you guys!
Wednesdays are usually my favorite blogging day of the week because I heart Wedding Wednesdays! But I really have no wedding plans to share... We did receive the rest of our engagement pictures! But we're waiting on the disc to arrive before we order our Save the Dates, so maybe that will be next week's post...

Instead today we're going to talk about the roof! Why the heck does she want to talk about her roof?
I'll tell you why. Because I hate it. I hate it leaking. I hate it staining the ceiling. I hate it for threatening to fall in on our heads. I hate it for not doing what it is supposed to do. So today, during lunch, I will be meeting a roofer finally to assess the situation. Do we need a new roof? Can we just patch it? Lordy, the stress and the missing money I see in our near future... Also, jacked up roofs and paying for a wedding don't mix.

Anyways... did you guys notice the blog makeover? Do you like it?

Wedding Wednesday: Engagment Pictures!

Oh happy happy day!

Shanna Stephens Photography sent me an email last night annoucing that she had posted a preview of our pictures! I moved so fast accross the room to grab my computer that M.E. thought I had seen a cockroach.

My initial reaction was, gosh dang I'm marrying one handsome man! My second thought was, gee I'm not so good at the 'serious face.'

But I love them so much, and I can't wait to see the rest! Of the 14 she posted last night, here are my favs:

Wedding Wednesday - Dress Shopping

Hello my bloggies! Happy Wednesday!

Guess what I am doing this weekend! Its Dress Day!! My mom, future Mother-in-Law and my maids are all meeting at the ritzy bridal shop in town. We are all so excited! But I’m also like really nervous! Picking the gown is a big deal!

What if I love the first one I try on?
What if I love one that is too expensive?
What if I don’t love any of them?
What if my family loves one that I don’t?
What if I love all of them?
How will I know when to say yes to the dress??

I have ideas in my head of what I like and what I don’t like: I don’t like bling. I don’t like colored belts. I don’t like appliquĂ©s. I don’t like tight fitting. I don’t like feathers.

But then, according to all of my favorite TLC shows – you can think you don’t like something but you could change your mind once you try it on!

I think I like a-line and strapless. And I definitely want a veil.

Here are some options of dresses I will never be able to afford. But a girl can dream, right? And pray that they make a knockoff version?

ALSO, the other issue I keep worrying about is how in the heck am I not going to tell M.E. all about my dress?! He's my best friend and I share everything with him whether he cares to know or not, so HOW am I expected to keep such an important secret from him for so long??

Engagment Party

A couple of weeks ago our friends threw us an engagement party – and it was amazing. Casual with a little wine, a little homemade pizza, some friends, and some cupcakes.

Not to mention the Benton’s house always looks amazing – that girl’s got style!

She went to a local pizza joint and asked for dough rolled out and then she added her own fresh toppings baking them in the oven and of the girll - genius!! I think the fig and pancetta was my fav; at least I think that’s what it was…

She also made us these chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter cream cheese frosting. I died.

It was such a fun night! It was the first time my friends got to meet all of my new friends (Mark’s friends) and everyone got along great!

That's me in the middle with the sparkle on my finger ;)

Engagement Story

In reference to my previous post - it went like this… A couple of months ago we just happened to find super cheap tickets to fly to NY for a long weekend, and it worked out perfectly that it was also our one year anniversary. Mark’s long time friend and his fiancĂ© (Danny & Christi) were gracious enough to let us stay with them in their apartment, and for Christmas Mark reserved a hotel room for one night uptown (under the guise of “it’s close to where the Today Show is filmed).
Thursday it looked as if all plans were off though, the blizzard, Nemo was heading straight for NY and almost all flights were cancelled. I wasn’t letting anyone or anything stop me from this vacation though and we switched our cancelled flight to a very early one the very next day. We drove all through the night to get to the airport on time and made it to NY before the blizzard hit. Unfortunately for Christi who was traveling home from a work trip, her plane was delayed a day. Fortunately for Mark, this was his excuse to move our hotel reservation from Sunday night to Saturday because “Christi would be tired from traveling.”
So Saturday Mark and I took a taxi uptown and arrived at our hotel. Checking in we were upgraded to a suite – in my mind it’s because the hotel was empty because of the storm (but really it’s because Mark wanted to propose Saturday night, our one year anniversary). This wasn’t just a suite, this was the penthouse, and it was fancy. After exploring our rooms and our two balconies, I needed a nap badly but Mark was insistent that it had to be quick because he was “so excited to go ice skating.”
After our nap we walked to Rockefeller Center and bought our tickets for the skating rink and to go up to the “top of the Rock” (the top floor of the Rockefeller building). I just could not figure out why Mark wanted to go to the Rock immediately and was also so excited to ice skate when it was because of my bucket list that we were there. Anyway, after convincing him that we could do a little shopping first we went wobbling out onto the ice. We did a couple of laps, Mark basically skating circles around me, when we came up to the Prometheus statue again where a couple was attempting to take a picture of themselves. I told Mark I was going to offer to take their picture so that they would take ours. I took their picture, wobbling around on my skates, and Mark handed his iPhone to the guy.
We stood there forever, and I even said under my breath, how many photos is he taking? I felt Mark shifting next to me so I turned to check on him, and he had turned to face me. I’m not going to lie, this whole next part was a blur because I was in such shock. (Happy shock!) He said “I have something to ask you. You know I love you right?” and he knelt down on his knee. “Will you marry me?” and he opened the ring box. My brain was reeling and my heart was jumping out of my chest and I felt myself laughing and crying and wanted to kiss him and jump on him and scream YES and scream OH MY GOD all at once. It was the most wonderful feeling in all of the world and I was ecstatic and surprised and just overwhelmed with happiness and love.
As we were kissing and hugging and laughing the rest of the world came back into focus and strangers from all around were congratulating us and cheering. The guy that Mark had asked to take pictures had done a wonderful job and gotten the entire thing documented. We skated around the rink one more time before I asked if we could get off that slippery rink so I could call my mother and my friends.
The rest of the night was so epically fantastic. We went to the top of the Rock, went to a fantastic dinner with free champagne and fancy desserts, and I could hardly sleep afterwards - I kept waking up to watch my ring sparkle in the light from the alarm clock.
I just love Mark so much and I can’t even express how happy I am that he wants to spend the rest of his life with me. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.
