What I have recently learned

If you have a filling that needs to be refilled, and it happens to be on the very back most upper right tooth, they will most likely give you Novocain (so you can't eat or let alone speak right for the entire afternoon). It won’t hurt too badly and the whole dental visit won’t last too long, but it MAY numb the entire right side of your face, up to and including your eye. Then you might have a mini-panic attack fearing that your face will be stuck like this for your wedding day.

If you put on a cute dress and snap a picture of it to send to your fiance to remind him that this was the dress you were wearing when you met just to document, your dog MAY think you’re an idiot and ask you what you’re doing.

If you find a great deal on Groupon like I did, a 12-pack of racerback tank tops for uber cheap, your fiancé MAY think you have a tanktop problem when you squeal with delight as he brings the package inside after checking the mailbox.

If you’re obsessed like monograms and you check out this site, you MAY feel tempted to change your iPhone lock screen every day.

If you go to Publix and find they have awesomely perfectly round big ol’ pumpkins for sale you’ll probably buy one to put on the fireplace to make your home feel fall festive.

But you MAY forget that your dog, likeyou, has a fond taste of all things pumpkin and may take a little nibble. And by little nibble, eat the pumpkin like an apple.

Also, don't you like how my first reaction to bad news is that Bo ate something?

Wedding Wednesday & 4th of July

Hi hi y’all! Guess what I got yesterday!!

Yup, that’s my dress! All hidden away at my parent’s house for another 7 months and 19 days! I keep thinking about it… it’s just so perfect!

In other wedding news… Originally we were planning to use a BBQ place here in town to cater dinner. BBQ is my favorite food (besides pizza) and this restaurant had great prices along including servers and formal serving dishes (so it wasn’t too tacky – not like BBQ on paper plates and tin bins). But then, M.E.’s boss offered us something amazing. He offered to cater our wedding at cost. Do you know how amazing that is?? We would save a heck of a lot of money but we will have everything the original restaurant had to offer and maybe more! Also, I like the idea of looking back at our wedding day and remembering that the food was made by someone that M.E. has worked/been friends with for a long time. We are so excited.

So I hope you all have a fantastic 4th of July! I’m pretty sure its going to rain my entire four day weekend… Which means no sun tan and no spray painting (more bathroom work).

And in honor of Independence Day I wore my new navy and white striped shirt.

Which apparently my coworkers thought I look like a referee…

So they made me a penalty flag.

Happy 4th of July!

Wedding Wednesday: Finding the Dress!

Oh bloggies! Last weekend was so fun! If you remember my Wedding Wednesday post from last week, I was super excited/nervous for my dress shopping day on Saturday.

Let me just tell you how amazingly fun it was. To be surrounded by my favorite people in the world, gorgeous dresses, champagne, and just being treated like a princess was a fantastic feeling! And I get even more excited thinking about it because I know that feeling will be x1 billion on my wedding day!!

If you are shopping for a wedding dress in the North Florida area, definately check out Vocelles. The ladies were so nice and knew exactly what I was looking for after my vague discription of what I think I wanted in the dress.

I only tried on 4 dresses. Bam. We thought #2 was a winner but as soon as I stepped out in #4 we all knew. And once I got the veil on everyone was tearing up! Magical!! I pranced around for awhile, not wanting to take it off. Tried sitting in it, took lots of pictures on everybody else's camereas and phones... (so M.E. would have no way to peek!)

My maids had a chance to try on a few bridesmaid dreses as well. And because they are all just so gorgeous, they rocked every single one they tried on. Making my decision on their dress so much harder... Thanks ladies!

I haven't decided on a color yet, but here is the style I think we're going with though:

Has anyone seen a cheaper version of thisdress?

Makeup & hairspray & eyelashes oh my!

Hello bloggies! I am really trying hard here to think of posts that are not wedding related... its harder than you may think! So forgive me, but I am just too flippin excited to marry the love of my life that I can't think of anything else!
Anyway, with engagement pictures coming up I've been thinking a lot about what I will wear/how I will do my hair/make up.
I’ve always been a fan of makeup but mom had rules: no foundation until 14, and no eyeliner until I was out of the house… Granted I would totally sneak and borrow my girlfriends’ sparkly eye shadows and things in middle and high school… But when it was officially my turn to wear the “grown up” make up, Mom taught me the right way to wear it – thanks Mom for teaching me how to look like a nice young lady and not a hooker.
Anyway, Ulta recently opened up like 10 minutes from the house. ::que angel voices:: Walking in there makes me a happy bean and walking out makes me a broke bean…
Since Ulta’s Grand Opening I have bought tons of new products for my hair, skincare & makeup. And I needed them all.

Face wipes from Yes to Blueberries, they smell so good!!

Face lotion, because I read you're supposed to start serious skincare in your 20s to prevent wrinkles later in life! Oy vey.

Blow Pro Heat Is On - to protect my hair from the blowdry/straightener/curling wand. But it smells good and is a great detangler!

Not Your Mother's Dry Shampoo, for days when I just don't wanna wash my hair but I also don't want to look like a homeless person...

NYX Pearl Mania, love the metalic shiny eyeshadow - but a little goes a LONG way!

Maybe she's born with it, maybe its Maybeline! I have 2 of these in the Peach and Plum, love the little bit of color is gives, no taste but smells good, and makes your lips super soft.

I haven't acutally used this NYX setting spray yet, supposedly it'll keep your makeup looking awesome all day.. Bought it for our engagement pics so I'll let you know how it works out!
Haven't used these eyelashes yet either... I really hate applying eyelashes - but they look so good in pictures!

Do you have any beauty products you use everyday or save for fancy nights out??

What what? Wednesday

What I’m reading: Just finished Silver Linings playbook, and I really liked it! It’s kind of pathetic but hopeful in an odd way. As soon as I finished the book I googled as many clips from the movie as I could find!

What I’m listening to: The Lumineers Pandora station.

What I’m looking forward to: 2 MORE NIGHTS UNTIL NYC! I am so very excited! I feel like it’s been a long time coming. Also, tonight I’m going out with my bestie to get our nails done – I haven’t done that since prom. I’m going to try that gel/shellac stuff, hoping to avoid chips on my trip.

What I’m dreading: I just don’t have a care in the world today!

What I’m wearing: I’m wearing one of the dresses Boyfriend’s mom has given me. This woman is phenomenal. Not only does she have good taste, everything she picks for me fits me perfectly! It blows my mind everytime.

What I wish I were doing: I wish I were in NY already with my sweetie! But then again, part of the thrill of it is the excitement of the anticipation!

What I’m eating: Last night I had an Oreo McFlurry and it was fantastic.

Dear Friday,

Dear lunch meeting: Free lunch? Yeah I’m cool with that. Vertigo Burgers? Even better!
Dear FSU: Please win tomorrow. That would be icing on the cake with my dad in town for Homecoming!
Dear pumpkin: Promise to carve you soon.
Dear Marriage Proposals: Its sad really how I much I love reading/watching you on the Internet. This one is my favorite today. I love to imagine who everyone is to the bride & groom and then think about how non-creative my friends are.
Dear Shanna: I can has this outfit?
Dear new fat jeans: I love you even if you are fat. I’ve decided to accept the fact that I will never be my high school skinny again and to start dressing in pants that actually fit and are comfortable – thus making me look less fat?
Dear boyfriend: Thanks for being so great, so sweet, so loving, and so fun all the time. You’re the best. For reals. I love you more than pizza.
Dear house: Please vacuum and empty the dishwasher before we get home tonight so we can relax and catch up on American Horror Story.
Dear Nicholas Sparks: Thank you for writing Safe Haven – now this movie. Can’t wait to see it! And the soundtrack sounds amazing!
Dear Weather: Its officially time to get chilly. Please do so.
Dear Followers: Have a most excellent weekend!

Very truly yours, A. Bean

Dear sewing machine,

So about 3? years ago, Santa brought me a beautiful pale blue sewing machine - just what I had asked for!! That Santa, he knows me so well.

3 years later, it was still in the box.

See? In the box. See? Pretty fabric.

But after some motivation from a friend a few days ago I (boyfriend) dug around in the closet and pulled it out. I found some pretty fabric at Joann’s and I was going to make a skirt!!

It took some serious concentration to thread the machine (without my mother or middle school Home Ec teacher standing over my shoulder) but I did it! And I used the pattern I had to cut my fabric into my 2 skirt pieces… and sewed up the sides! And voila – halfway done making a skirt that was 3 sizes to small!

Fooey. I wasn’t about to waste my time or money or beautiful fabric on a skirt that’s too small! So I youtube’d some videos on DIY infinity scarf, laid my ‘skirt’ out flat on the ground, and chopped it up to make a scarf.

Voila! Here I am modeling it in boyfriends t-shirt.

And here’s Bozo modeling looking ever so sweet.

And here I am modeling this morning – and I’m impressed with myself!!

Do you sew?? What tips do you have for me?

Very truly yours, A. Bean

Dear Monday thoughts,

Its Monday. And while I should be doing secretary things, I need to share my inspiration for the week...

1. Pumpkin Spice Creamer
Since I can't seem to find it at my local Publix, I am going to attempt to make my own; for several reasons a) cheaper b) healthier c) I'll have leftover pumpkin puree for something else delicious! (Posting the receipe and review of my creation tomorrow!)

2. Ombre
Call it a fad but I love it. Same goes with the chevron pattern, I love it. I've researched these tights and how to DIY but it seems like a messy process (and Boyfriend has banned me from dying any more clothing in the kitchen...) so I think I may just Etsy these.

 3. HomeGoods
Tallahassee's first HomeGoods opened yesterday. Heaven.

4. To bang or not to bang?
I have a hair appointment on Thursday because I'm ready for a change! I don't want to loose any length... And I'm almost back to my natural hair color... So I'm thinking bangs?! If I don't like them they'll grow out again, right?? Modeling my thoughts below is a fellow blogger I found on google.

5. Candycorn
Its that time of year and I just can't get enough.

Very truly yours, A. Bean
