Weekend Recap

Well that weekend went by too fast. I was feeling a little under the weather (as I do every year when the season starts to change) so nothing too crazy happened. Friday night we went up to Level8 to grab a couple of drinks and watch part of our wedding band play during happy hour. On the plane back home from New York (after he had just proposed) the first thing wedding that we discussed was definitely having a live band rather than a DJ. We chose the same band that played at his brother’s wedding last fall, Southern Satisfaction, and after hearing them again Friday night we got so so excited. So we pretty much stayed until they stopped playing. Here’s a little sneak peak:
When we got home that night, I decided it was time to make a birthday cake for my friend Meghann who’s birthday brunch was the next morning. It was delicious in spite of the fact that I was 7 Samuel Adams Oktoberfest deep. (To make my strawberry box cake taste homemade I substituted almond milk for water and melted butter for oil. Call me Paula Bean.)
Meghann just got a new puppy, Lily, and Sarah brought her new puppy, Hank. Bo was pretty angry at us when we got home that afternoon and would not stop sniffing me with this angry Bo-face.
Baby Lily getting cuddles from Aunt Lori & Hank Wiliams below with his favorite Aunt & Uncle
We were going to go to the FSU game that night but because I was feeling sick-y and it was pouring outside, we stayed in and ate chicken wangs and tried not to get angry at ESPN3 for not streaming the game perfectly. But duh, FSU won. (Oh, and Brady & the Bean (my team) won in Fantasy Football this week!)
Sunday was pancakes at the house, laundry and rewatching Hunger Games, and a couple of hours at the office before a trip to Publix and grilled cheese & soup for dinner. We suffered through an hour or so of the Emmy’s before I went to bed. And by go to bed I mean read my book until midnight when M.E. came in and told me I was going to be pissed in the morning that I had done that... But it just got good!! Anybody else read ‘The Historian’by Elizabeth Kostova?

Guess who's back, back again

Oh hiiii, yes I have a blog, no I don’t write in it every day week. Why? Sometimes I’m lazy, sometimes I just can’t think of anything to write about, I just write when the muses inspire me. So consider today a catch up day and be ready for some random ramblings.
Last night we stayed up late eating cookies & drinking Stella because it was draft night!! So excited for my blogger girl’s league! After the draft my new team name is Brady & the Bean – because I draft Brady, duh.

Draft day faces... how cute is Karoline??

We ordered a new rug from Ballard Desgins... its gonna be here on Thursday and I CAN’T WAIT. Next we need an end table, a new ceiling fan then hardwood floors.

I celebrated many things this past weekend, my Mother-in-law’s birthday, Halie’s Wedding Shower, and M.E.’s friend's 30th birthday bash. Here’s a picture dump:

We have almost officially decided on our Honeymoon destination! It will be official once we order our passports and order the tickets! Originally we were thinking Jamaica... now we’re thinking Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. The fact that we just like saying Punta Cana has a really big part in the decision.

Weak Arms

Hello bloggies…. Let me start off by saying that I am so sorry I have abandoned you almost the entire month of June! What the heck? Where has the month gone?? Before I start on my morning rant, here’s a quick recap of our June:

Our dear friends, the Bryants, are expecting their first baby Bryant in Decemeber and I am sooooo excited! Laura is already such a cute little mommy with her little belly and I cannot wait to meet this sweet little baby!

Our other dear friends Danny & Cristi (who we stayed with in NYC when M.E. proposed) got married this past weekend! Cristi was a beautiful bride and we had a blast celebrating their love – they certainly know how to throw a party! (Steph & I wore the same dress - lookin like the wannabe bridesmaids!)

As you know, we started renovating the downstairs bathroom. Remove old toilet – check. Wallpaper off – check. Paint walls – check. Paint vanity top and body – check. Caulk everything – check. Install new toilet – half check. Decorate with pretty new accessories – half check.

Now let me explain these half checks... The new toilet is completely installed EXCEPT for the fact that it is not connected to the water line yet. We have the new connector (the old one was too short) and I was going to plug it all in last night while M.E. was at baseball but I was not strong enough to undo the bolt – which was VERY frustrating. So I drank a bottle of wine. As for the pretty new accessories, the mirror just needs another coat of paint, the crate/shelf needs to be mounted to the wall, and the shower curtain rod needs to get its act together. You see, this morning I thought I would just simply hang up the new shower curtain. Nothing has yet to happen simply. For the life of me I could NOT unscrew that curtain rod to adjust it to the right length. I was in that bathroom for 30 min this morning trying to get that stupid thing to work. No such luck. So when I got to work I ate a donut.

My sweet sweet fiancé promised he would have both of these things in proper working condition by the time I get home tonight… I think I will have a meltdown if he can’t do it. We have a friend coming over for dinner and I am dying to debut the new potty! Check back tomorrow for pictures, hopefully!

Wedding Wednesday: Asking my Bridesmaids

Its Wedding Wednesday! Probably my favorite link-up of the week! (tied with #backthatazzup Friday…)

As soon as M.E. put a ring on it, I knew without a doubt who I would have stand by my side on my wedding day. And I'm sure they knew it already too. But I officially asked my bridesmaids to be my maids a little over a month ago, the morning we went to the bridal dress salon. Unfortunately, they only got half of their gift at that time because of a shipping mishap. Had the gifts been complete, this is what they would have looked like:

I stenciled their initials on to plain craft bags (in white) and the tissue paper was pink (not white like the pic...)

Inside each bag was one of these framed sayings (that I printed and hand traced)

Will you be my bridesmaid? I promise there will be no ugly colors, bows on the butt, puffy sleeves.
They say I'll need someone to hold up my dress when I have to pee. Will you be my bridesmaid?

I would like to ask you to be my bridesmaid with the understanding that you will not attempt to look better than me.

And a wine tumbler with their names, so they won't spill on their pretty dresses!
Purchased from this lady. I can't seem to find her shop anymore, maybe its because she was a horrible shipper!

The girls seemed to like them and I had a blast picking them out!

Engagment Party

A couple of weeks ago our friends threw us an engagement party – and it was amazing. Casual with a little wine, a little homemade pizza, some friends, and some cupcakes.

Not to mention the Benton’s house always looks amazing – that girl’s got style!

She went to a local pizza joint and asked for dough rolled out and then she added her own fresh toppings baking them in the oven and of the girll - genius!! I think the fig and pancetta was my fav; at least I think that’s what it was…

She also made us these chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter cream cheese frosting. I died.

It was such a fun night! It was the first time my friends got to meet all of my new friends (Mark’s friends) and everyone got along great!

That's me in the middle with the sparkle on my finger ;)

Friday Letters

Dear Body: I do apologize in advance, because after this weekend we are stepping our game up and really getting sweaty. I just received my “Sweating for the Wedding” workout top from RufflesWithLove and I bought my Jillian Michaels Wii Workout – so its about to get real.

Dear house: Are you excited? I’m excited. You’re about to get a makeover, but it’s a surprise to Fiance so we’re keeping it secret til Sunday!

Dear Ma: Can’t wait to go shopping with you tomorrow!

Dear Besties: I just love our Wedding Wednesdays, or as Fiance calls it, Wacky Wednesdays. But seriously, you girls are the best.

Dear Fiance: Miss you already. Have fun this weekend at the cold beach and enjoy your man time! Maybe you’ll get some ideas about your own Bachelor party!

Also, its time for a Friday link up with the very funny:
#backthatazzupfriday.
Link up and add a link of your favorite song o’ the day to celebrate it being the last day of the work week.
Dance.

New York!

I can just hardly stand my excitment that in 23 days Boyfriend and I will be on a jet plane to NYC!!

It was just fate I think that we found round trip tickets for $100 each on our one year anniversary. And luck that Boyfriend's good friends Mr. & Mrs. Nav live in Greenwich. Its going to be an amazing weekend!!

We've both been to NY before, sperately. For my 22nd birthday, my Ma & Mimi & I visited in the middle of the summer.
Airport pic! Def making Boyfriend take one of these...
Dinner at a fancy restaurant
Circling the Statue of Liberty
Dressed up matchy style to see a Broadway play
Times Square!!
Alas, tanner & skinnier in 2010... It was an amazing trip. We did all the touristy things and literally shopped til we dropped.

For this trip we've made a list of everything we'd like to see/eat/shop:
  • Grand Central Station
  • H&M
  • eat a Ruben at a real NY deli
  • 9/11 Memorial
  • The Arch (Grand Army Plaza @ Prospect Park)
  • Ice skating in Rockefellar Center
  • the Today Show
  • a Nets Basketball game
What reccomendations do you have that you think we must see??

Twihards

Tonight!!

Tonight my bestie Sarah and I will be the girls at the movie theater hours before showtime rocking out homemade 'Team Edward' shirts in celebration of the final installment of the Twilight Saga.

Dorks? Yes.

Nerds? Yes.

Obsessed? No - we just like our tradition of it.

Our tradition: go to dinner and order many an alcohlic drink, get to the theater hours in advance (to ensure good seats), while waiting in line - pull bottle of wine out of your purse and fill less inconspicous waterbottle with white wine.

Judge if you will - but tonight? Tonight is going to be epic.

Like becoming-an-immortal-vampire-with-your-soulmate epic.

Very truly yours, A. Bean
